Why Mantra?
As we move through the journey of life, there are many experiences that we have to learn from. Some are wonderful and joyful, while others may be painful or traumatic. The way that we think about our lives and the perceptions we hold regarding the events that take place, combine to create certain mental "conflicts" that call for resolution. We use our breath to create sound, and rhythmic breath alone is extremely transformational. Mantra comes from the combination of breath, the art of utilizing the reflex points on the upper palate and the tongue to stimulate the higher glands of the brain, harmonious tones that serve to tune up the entire being from the inside out, and ancient chants that have been sung for thousands of years by many different generations of people and have proven to work for various ailments, imbalances, and dis-eases. Mantra works with the repetition of words to help create new neurological pathways in the brain. When we feel stuck in a negative mind set or have been challenged with a problem that we cannot resolve, we can turn to this intentional practice of chanting meditation using mantra to help support positive change. After chanting a 3, 7, or 11 minute mantra, the brain actually changes and the mind shifts toward more peaceful, understanding, wise, and Loving thoughts and ideas. It is both fun and powerful to practice daily. Since the mind is never quiet, it is nice to use sound to help calm and balance the chatter. Mantra helps to organize the mind so we feel more clear in knowing who we are and where, how, why, and what we need to do next. We chant in English, Latin, Gurmukhi, Hebrew, and Sanskrit. Each holds the intention of healing, becoming neutral in thought and emotion, and creating more Loving thoughts, emotions, habits, and behaviors. You can chant mantra whether you subscribe to a religion or not - there is nothing to fear, and your don't have to be spiritual to do it. Mantra can be utilized as a healing tool or a spiritual guide as well. Either way, mantra was created as a devotional tool to calm and center the mind, connect with one's soul, heal the mental imbalances associated with dis-ease, and expand in Love and gratitude on all levels.
